Due to heightened awareness and growing intolerance of fraudulent activity, demand for Forensic Accountants is rapidly increasing. There is a need for people with specialist skills who can undertake fraud investigations, valuations, assist in dispute resolution, prepare expert reports, and conduct fraud and forensic analysis. The MSc in Fraud Auditing and Forensic Accounting is designed for the development of professional Forensic Accountants.
The MSc in Fraud Auditing & Forensic Accounting is made up of the following subjects:
1. FRAUD INVESTIGATION AND FORENSIC ACCOUNTING
2. FORENSIC CRIMINOLOGY AND LEGAL STUDIES
3. CORPORATE FRAUD AND INTERNAL CONTROL
4. COMPLIANCE, ETHICS AND PUBLIC GOVERNANCE
5. FINANCIAL STATEMENT AND INSTITUTION FRAUD
6. LITIGATION AND EXPERT WITNESSING
In addition, you will have to write a 10,000-word dissertation. The dissertation is a major part of the MSc and tests your ability to formulate complex and nuanced thinking, communicate it intelligibly and intelligently, and manage a project that is expected to last for several months. You should start thinking about the topic of your dissertation long before the completion of the programme. The dissertation must be on a topic agreed with your tutor. If upon submission the dissertation is not deemed to be of an acceptable standard, then you will need to re-submit your dissertation within two months and pay a resubmission fee of 100 euro.
Entry requirements are flexible and vary, but we generally demand:
(a) a first degree from CIM (BVI) / GBU-Europe;
OR
(b) an Honours degree from an internationally accredited university
OR
(c) a professional qualification from an internationally recognised professional body.
Please note that this degree assumed a good background knowledge of Accounting. Ideally, a prospective student would have a first degree in Accounting or a Professional Certificate or work experience in the area of Accounting/Finance.
Upon successful completion of all modules and the dissertation, you will be awarded an MSc in Fraud Auditing & Forensic Accounting.
We don’t usually offer exemptions at graduate level, but if you think you have a strong case you are welcome to complete the exemption form that is part of the application form.
Programme fees for Distance Learning students are set at 4,000 euro. On top of the programme fees, you will need to pay an application fee of 80 Euro, examination fees (130 euro per subject), as well as a dissertation evaluation fee of 250 euro.
For Centre students, fees vary according to Centre.
Exams are held at approved examination centres around the world every June and January. In order to be eligible to take exams in January, students must submit their Examination Entry Form by 30 November; to take their exams in June, by 30 April.
